Acupuncture: What Is It & How Can It Help?

Acupuncture is a type of health science that uses the insertion of very thin needles into certain parts of the body or “acupoints” to treat pain and dysfunction. It is a traditional Chinese treatment that has been in use for about 5,000 to 7,000 years. Acupuncture is believed to work with energies of the body that influence various systems of the body. When these energies are blocked or weakened, acupuncture is believed to stimulate that energy and restore harmony to the affected area. Some conditions that acupuncture may help include, but are not limited to:

  • Acute or chronic pain

  • Migraines

  • Bladder dysfunctions

  • Neck pain

  • Mid-back pain

  • Skin conditions

  • Asthma
